Welcome to the Keller Center
The Keller Center for the Study of First Amendment is part of the Political Science Department of the University of Colorado, Boulder. The Center was endowed in 1993 by Mr. Leroy Keller, Vice President and general manger of UPI’s International Service and a CU graduate.
Professor David R. Mapel is Keller Center Director.

The Center's Mission
The Center supports and encourages teaching, research and public service on topics and issues relating to the nature, meaning, and contemporary standing of First Amendment rights and liberties. Undergraduate classes, public events, and scholarly conferences are offered as ways of educating students, faculty and members of the community about the protections of free speech, press, association and religion under the First Amendment.Our mission is to foster teaching, research and community outreach on First Amendment issues. The Center seeks to inform the public about the historical, legal and philosophical meaning of First Amendment rights and about contemporary threats to those liberties. The Center also cooperates with other units on campus, especially the Byron White Center for the Study of Constitutional Law at the CU Law School.
